Cheung has been a hairstylist since 2001. His interest in hair began at the early age of 15 when he began cutting the hair of his friends and family. Cheung began his career with an apprenticeship at Architects & Heroes salon in 1999. He later joined the opening team of Red Chair Salon in April of 2003, created the hair cutting program, and continued on to Groove Salon in 2008. Cheung continued to refine his craft with advanced training at Vidal Sassoon in London, where he studied classic, salon creative, and advanced creative techniques. He then went to Bumble and Bumble in New York to further advance his razor technique.
Cheung specialties range from modern geometric influenced shapes to complete hairstyle changes from long to short. He also is an expert with all hair textures. Cheung is influenced by hairstyles from Europe and the fashion industry. He also draws inspiration from the individual personalities and personal style of each of his clients. After a short stint of cutting and teaching at Cowboys & Angels Salon where he met Riccardo Cinotti, the concept of Elan Hair Salon was born. He is now the head educator for the cutting and styling program.
